Chizue Rudd describes her new business venture as “Exercise classes offered in the comfort of your home.” The class options include on-line Zoom classes and one-on-one fitness instruction.
Currently she is offering instruction in Pilates, Yoga Flow, Stretch, Core & Balance Training, Barre, HIIT (high-intensity interval training), TRX (suspension training), and weight training. She plans to offer group classes in the future. Private and semi-private reformer training is also available through Pilates Collective.
In addition to the local Whidbey residents who are familiar with Chizue’s classes, she notes, “I have people joining my Zoom classes from many places; I even have students joining from Japan.”
After several years as a fitness instructor and Group Exercise Director at Island Athletic Club (IAC) in Freeland, Chizue Rudd decided she wanted to offer more individual instruction. She had been hearing from people that they wanted to be able to meet with her one-on-one and receive private lessons and instructions.
On the first of August, Chizue officially launched her website, www.eternalwellness.life, and she is looking forward to responding to the requests for private help that she has been receiving for many years.
Chizue was born in Tokyo, Japan, and raised in Kobe. She received her initial fitness training in Japan and began her career there. A devastating earthquake in Kobe in 1995 encouraged her to make the move to America. She got a green card and moved to Philadelphia, and then to New Jersey. In New Jersey, she met her husband, Bob, who lived on Whidbey Island. They married in 2003 and moved to the island.
When she showed her credentials to IAC, they offered her a job as an aerobics instructor. Shortly after she began teaching at the club, she was asked to become the Group Exercise Director, as well as an instructor.
Chizue’s skills and the many classes she teaches at the club, and at the Pilates Collective in Freeland and Langley, have earned her a strong reputation on the island (full disclosure: My husband and I take classes from Chizue Tuesday through Friday at the IAC) . She is currently certified in STOTT Pilates, is a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer, and has an ACE Group Fitness Certification.
She notes, “My clients make me feel happy. They often tell me they appreciate what I do for them.”
She will continue to teach at IAC but she hopes her Eternal Wellness will provide her with more opportunities to help people achieve their health and fitness goals. Through her new business she goes to peoples’ homes and provides the individual instruction many people need and appreciate. She also sells beauty products that are made in Japan.
