With just over five weeks to go until the official start of summer, and recently warmer temperatures and sunny days, outdoor activities in the Hudson Valley are beginning again. There is no shortage of options for enjoying the outdoors, especially for children, and especially in the Wappingers Falls area.
Bowdoin Park made announcements this week regarding upcoming opening dates and shared some photos that definitely got us in the summer mood.
Bowdoin Park Playground Resurfacing Project
After being closed for some much needed attention, Bowdoin Park Playground has reopened and has a new look. The parks team spent a lot of time (even in the rain and mud) replacing the old damaged pavement which was a safety issue. Essentially, the resurfacing can be seen as part of an ongoing project with regards to playgrounds in the park, with a new playground that will replace the wooden playground which was recently deleted.
Dutchess County Parks shared their appreciation for the community’s understanding of their decision to complete the resurfacing project and provided some details about a new playground that is currently in the design phase. The new playground has been described as “a destination”…
We took into consideration the new playground currently being designed and scheduled for construction this year at Bowdoin Park. The new design will see a fully accessible ramped structure with features for all play abilities, and a cast-in-place surface with accessible lanes from car parks, which the current playground does not provide. It’s a beautiful design with play pockets for all ages, from infant/toddler up to 12 years old, and will provide unique play experiences for everyone.
